The Latest NewsHome Theatre EquipmentAs television technology continues to improve and prices fall, more and more homeowners are choosing to install a home theatre system. What exactly is a home theatre? Really, there is no textbook definition, but at the bare minimum all home theatres consist of a television set (preferably a large screen model) and an independent sound system. Presently, the most popular sets for home theatres are flat screen (flat panel) high definition plasma televisions. Yes, it certainly is a mouth full, but customers are just wild about them. The standard high definition set boasts vastly superior resolution when compared to old analogue sets. The primary difference between an HDTV and a standard analogue television set is the way they receive signals. An analogue set receives radio waves, while a digital set receives a binary code (a series of ones and zeros) for video and sound. This relatively new technology provides greatly improved picture quality and resolution. (more...) Car Sound Systems ExplainedThere are three main components that go into making a car’s stereo system. It is important to know a bit about the units that make up a car’s sound system before you can start out building one. The first is the head unit which actually produces sound from the CD, mp3, or whatever other source you may be using. The second is the stereo amplifier or amp. The third component of course is the speakers including woofers, sub woofers and tweeters. The quality and capability of all three determines what kind of sound you get. There are different speakers for the different frequencies they handle and the kind of sound they produce. Tweeters produce notes in the higher pitch. Woofers produce bass but in the upper range, while sub woofers produce the sound that makes our feet thump and our heart race, that low base and subsonic pitches. (more...)
